1 Day Improv Intensive with Rich Talarico

Shenanigans Comedy Theatre - Main Stage - 2650 Leeman Ferry Road Southwest, Suite A, Huntsville, AL 35801, USA

Ages 18+, Content PG-13: This masterclass will include 2 separate sessions, 3 hours each, with a 1 hour lunch break. The follow topics will be included:

POINT OF VIEW — THE CHOICE THAT GUIDES ALL CHOICES - This class will teach performers how to grab a POV (the choice that guides all choices) and how to develop and nurture those choices through a scene or show using environment, gifts and relationships with other characters to fully be able to play their POV, AKA, “The filter through which only your character looks.”

OBJECT WORK — THE SECRET WEAPON OF IMPROV - Object Work is the Secret Weapon of Improv, it informs character, creates opportunities for all players, makes call backs easier, buys you time on stage, creates naturally good blocking, engages the audience and makes you more likely to receive gifts. Learn how to incorporate better object work into your practice, which will elevate your play and give you more moment-to-moment playability.

Participant seats will include instruction and full participation in all exercises and activities. These are limited to 15 seats.

Auditor seats will be able to receive instruction, but will not be allowed to participate in the exercises and activities. These seats are unlimited.

About the instructor:

Rich Talarico is a Peabody® Award-winning writer/producer with four Emmy® and four WGA Award nominations, best known for his work on Key & Peele. Rich was responsible for K&P fave Substitute Teacher, (“…Ay-ay-Ron?”) which in 2024 was added to The Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum Of American History. Rich wrote dozens of K&P faves: Racist Zombies, Karim and Jahar, Hatz, Teaching Center, Obama Greets, Black Ice, and co-wrote many more. 
Other credits include: MADtv, The Tonight Show w. Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live, and the critically-acclaimed, Review. An alum of Chicago’s Second City and Improv Olympic, Rich also provided punch-up work on Mean Girls and Get Out.  As an actor, Rich appeared on screen on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, MADtv, the feature film High Fidelity, and in A&W Root Beer’s classic TV ad, “Mr. Dumass.”
